Lauren (Dreher) Cunningham is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Accounting and Information Management and Director of Research at the University of Tennessee’s C. Warren Neel Corporate Governance Center. She joined UT after receiving her Ph.D. in accounting from the University of Arkansas. Prior to obtaining her Ph.D., Lauren worked as an audit manager with Grant Thornton, LLP in Dallas, specializing in the real estate and technology industries. She earned her undergraduate degree in accounting from Drury University in Springfield, Missouri, and is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in Texas. Lauren teaches auditing to both undergraduate and graduate students.
Lauren’s research interests include audit and corporate governance, with a particular emphasis on the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s periodic filing review process (comment letters). Her research has been published in The Accounting Review and Accounting Horizons, and referenced in corporate governance blogs and newsletters. Lauren has presented her research at a number of national and international academic conferences, and at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s Division of Economic Risk and Analysis.
