KEITH G. STANGA was the Andersen Professor of Accounting at The University of Tennessee and was a full-time accounting educator for 41 years before retiring in 2015. He served on the UT faculty for 38 years, which included ten years as Head of the Department of Accounting and Information Management. Dr. Stanga taught financial reporting courses in the undergraduate and graduate degree programs in accounting. He also taught in the Haslam College’s MBA program and Global Leadership Scholars (GLS) Program.
Dr. Stanga received his Ph.D. from Louisiana State University (LSU) in 1974 and is a CPA. He taught for three years (1974-1977) at Texas A&M University before joining the UT faculty in 1977. His research has encompassed such areas as disclosure, information needs for decision making, qualities of useful accounting information, accounting methods, applications of ethics to accounting issues, and accounting education. His research has been published in numerous academic and professional journals; he also co-authored a textbook.
Dr. Stanga served as president of the Accounting Programs Leadership Group (APLG) of the American Accounting Association from 1998 until 2000. The APLG is the national organization of accounting department heads and other program leaders.
